Family History

One great way to cherish your family members and your relationships with your family and friends is to start a family history project.  People often decide to start family history projects after a teacher assigns a project in school that involves filling out your family tree.  The emergence of several new social platforms, apps., and other family history websites and software programs have also helped to generate greater interest in family history.  Many genealogy and family history experts discuss new and innovative ways to learn about your ancestors.  However, in addition to learning about new research tools and skills, family history also helps to inspire people to connect with history in a way that is deeply personal and often emotional.  Other experiences people have with history, whether from movies, books, or classes in school, often keep the people and events at a distance.  Family history projects allow people to develop a close relationship with a historical subject that helps place history in a context that is relevant and interesting for each person.  If you are struggling with finding a history topic that is interesting to you, consider starting with yourself and your family!
